League leaders Jeonbuk fell to a two-nil defeat away to Ulsan. Spurned national team striker Kim Shin-Wook opened the scoring for Ulsan, who sealed the win with a late goal by summer signing Ivan Kovacec. The result was Ulsan’s second win on the bounce, moving them further clear of the drop zone. Suwon, deprived of Kwon Chang-Hoon, Hong Chul, and Iliyan Mitsanski due to international duty, could not take advantage of Jeonbuk’s result, drawing two-all with relegation threatened Busan. Suwon took the lead early on in that game through Santos, but Busan came back with two goals before Oh Beom-Seok levelled for the visitors. Third placed Seongnam drew one-all away at Jeonnam whilst fourth placed Seoul and fifth placed Pohang played out a goalless draw, with Pohang missing a penalty in that match. Ricardo Lopes scored a hattrick for Jeju as they beat bottom-of-the-table Daejeon by four goals to two, while Gwangju beat Incheon by one goal to nil. In the K-League Challenge, Daegu took full advantage of Sangju’s loss against Anyang, beating an insipid Seoul Eland by two goals to nil. That result moves Daegu to within four points of Sangju at the top of the table, with Suwon moving into third with a one-nil win over Ansan.
