Seoul won the FA Cup final on Saturday with a three-one win over Incheon United. Seoul, last year’s beaten finalists, had the home advantage in the final and made good use of it, retaining possession for large parts of the match. The breakthrough came on thirty-three minutes when Japanese midfielder Yojiro Takahagi scored the opener for Seoul with a wonderful dipping volley from outside the box. Seoul went into the half-time break one-nil ahead but Incheon found an equalizer when Lee Hyo-Gyun scored in the seventy-second minute. Incheon’s hopes were dashed two minutes from time when Adriano chested the ball down in the box, beating the Incheon offside trap, before smashing the ball past Hyun Yoo in the Incheon net to put Seoul ahead. Seoul extended their lead in injury time when Molina scored directly from a corner to put Seoul three-one ahead. The win means that FC Seoul qualify for the Asian Champions’ League, and the victory was extra special for Seoul’s defender Cha Du-Ri. The Korean legend plans to retire at the end of the season due to ongoing foot pain and managed to end his time at Seoul on a high. There was no other K-League action this weekend, but the K-League challenge title race saw Daegu and Seoul Eland play out a three-all draw which put Daegu in the driving seat for the one automatic promotion place. Daegu took the lead twice before Seoul turned the game around and looked to be headed towards a hard-fought victory before Daegu equalised with the final kick of the match. That point meant that Daegu finished the weekend one point ahead of Sangju Sangmu who won one-nil against Gyeongnam.
